You Are Not Who You Started As

In seasons of growth, there is a temptation to minimize growth, to practice false modesty by pretending you haven’t changed much. But true humility does not require denial.

God didn’t walk you through this season of discipline, healing, obedience, and consistency for you to pretend you’re still the same because you are not.

Growth Leaves Evidence

Take a look at your life.

You respond differently.

You move differently.

You think differently.

You make choices differently.

Growth is not evident in perfection, but in new patterns. Look at how quickly you recover now, how much clearer your discernment is. That's the proof of your growth.

Scripture tells us, “If anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation” (2 Corinthians 5:17). New doesn’t mean flawless, it means transformed, closer to the image of Christ than before.

Becoming Is a Sacred Process

You didn’t change overnight.

You changed through daily prayer, consistent routines and honest reflections. You didn't let your emotions make excuses for you, but instead grew your roots in spiritual renewal, emotional regulation and choices that align more with your decision to be obedient to God.

It has been a trying process.

And now, you stand on the other side, clearer, stronger and more grounded.

Honor the Journey Without Living There

You don’t have to forget who you were to honor who you are now. As a matter of fact, your past is not an embarrassment, it’s a testimony. Speaking about your growth is not pride, it becomes evidence that can now empower others.

You can speak of depression with from an abundance of joy, and speak of heartbreak from a healed place. Remember that God didn’t heal you so you could keep identifying with old wounds. He healed you so you could live fully in Him and yes, even brag about Him along the way.

Your New Life Requires New Agreement

We glorify God when we denounce what He never wanted us to carry, but sometimes the hardest part of transformation is the internal permission.

You are allowed to live as the woman God has formed, renouncing the not the one you outgrew.

Give yourself permission to:

  • Move forward

  • Set boundaries

  • Be seen

  • Be steady

  • Be confident

For the Faithful People

If you’ve been downplaying your growth through this season, let this release you:

You are not who you started as, and that was the whole point.

Honor the work God has done.

Honor the woman you’ve become.

Honor the journey that shaped you.

And keep going.

🤍 Pray this prayer with me:

Heavenly Father, thank You for transforming me. Little by little You've been tearing down the walls I had built in order to take on this world. But yet You tell me to fear not, for You have overcome the world and all I have to do is rest in You, carry my cross and remain faithful. Please help me to honor my growth without fear or false humility. Let my life reflect the work You’ve done within me.

In Jesus' Name, Amen.
