It's strange to think that for some churches and communities, Vacation Bible School is simply a routine annual event. Much of the planning, preparation, crafting, and creation was completed the previous year, and this year they only needed to decide on the theme. It's difficult to imagine that for some, a budget was already determined, a location secured, and children registered and waiting a whole year ahead of time. It's odd when I realize that my grand dream is just someone else's mundane summer plan. What a world we live in.
Organizing this VBS was enjoyable, but executing it has been truly remarkable. Children from across the county have come together with me and my amazing team!
On that note, I can't praise my volunteer staff enough. My heart has expanded as I see the love they share for my Father. Many had less than a month to decide whether or not they'd join me, and some had only a week. They have contributed more than I could have imagined, and I know that is simply the glory of God shining through them.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. This plan could have been just like many others that I've had that stayed in my notebooks and journals. It was their "yes" that forced me to work until this plan was not just an idea but a reality. Even though this is a vision God gave to me, their passion and drive proves that the Lord had placed similar desires in them as well. What an intentional God!
Like most believers, I have faith in destiny helpers and divine intervention, and this is one of those "wow" moments that reinforce those beliefs. While VBS might just be a task checked off on someone else's list, for my Haitian-American community, it was a significant step forward. It was like planting a seed in the next generation, and I am eager to continue nurturing it and witnessing its growth.
